Position Purpose
The Community Engagement Director is responsible for cultivating, strengthening, and expanding community partnerships that advance Habitat for Humanity’s mission and vision. This role builds meaningful relationships across the community—including faith partners, trade partners, businesses, civic leaders, and other stakeholders—to support affordable housing, reduce construction costs through donated services and materials, and increase community involvement in Habitat’s work.
Position Overview
The Community Engagement Director plays a critical role in strengthening Habitat’s presence and impact in the community through intentional outreach, strategic planning, and relationship-building. This position works collaboratively across departments to identify opportunities where Habitat’s housing and community development solutions align with community needs and aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
Community Partnerships & Outreach
Cultivate and steward new and existing relationships with:
Local churches and faith-based organizations
Trade partners and skilled professionals
Businesses, civic groups, and community organizations
Establish sponsorship agreements and collaborative partnerships that advance Habitat’s mission.
Serve as a visible ambassador for Habitat within the community.
Trades & Resource Development
Increase donated trades, services, and building materials to reduce the overall cost of home construction.
Coordinate closely with the Vice President of Construction to align donated resources with build needs.
Identify and pursue new cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Events & Engagement
Assist in planning and executing special events, including:
Donor and volunteer appreciation events
Community engagement initiatives
Fundraising and partnership-focused activities
Support cross-departmental efforts to engage volunteers and partners.
Planning & Organization
Prioritize competing responsibilities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Develop plans of action, schedules, and goals to ensure timely and effective outcomes.
Demonstrate sound judgment, decision-making, and resource allocation.
Facilitate collaborative planning and delegate tasks as appropriate.
Communication & Reporting
Prepare written reports, presentations, and updates for leadership and stakeholders.
Maintain clear, professional communication with staff, partners, and community members.
Utilize social media and basic marketing platforms to support engagement and visibility.
Service & Professional Conduct
Interact professionally, respectfully, and positively with staff, volunteers, partners, and Habitat families.
Maintain a service-oriented, outcome-focused mindset aligned with Habitat’s mission and values.
Position Outcomes

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required.
3–5 years of experience in community engagement, outreach, partnerships, or a related field preferred.
Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Experience preparing reports and managing multiple initiatives.
Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
Knowledge of social media and basic marketing platforms.
Friendly, enthusiastic, and mission-driven demeanor.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with diverse community stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Google Workspace
