At Saab in West Lafayette, IN, you have the opportunity to join a team that manufactures the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. This flagship facility utilizes advanced manufacturing techniques and leverage research and development to support Saab’s broad product portfolio. The Saab West Lafayette operation is currently seeking a Commodity Buyer to join our team and help develop a world-class Supply Chain.
Responsibilities include:
-Execute the procurement of material, services, and production supplies including price, availability, delivery schedule (expediting), and final delivery of goods
-Coordinate the Return Material Authorization process with suppliers and assist in issuance and resolution of purchase orders and invoices
-Prepare, organize, and maintain electronic purchasing records and data documenting performance and compliance
-Develop requests for quotes, establish pricing, delivery, terms, and conditions
-Continuously develop and improve internal procurement processes
-Continuously improve the supply chain to secure competitiveness using Industry 4.0 technologies, lean strategies, and implementation of best practices
-Ensure best total landed cost through the entire supply chain in support of production in the most cost-efficient way
-Manage supplier risk and develop mitigation plans
-Be an ambassador for Saab both with co-workers and with suppliers
-Develop working relationships and synergies with strategic sourcing managers within Saab U.S. and Sweden
-Contribute to a people-first culture in alignment to Saab values, demonstrating core Company values: Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support
-Support other projects and tasks as assigned
Compensation Range: $63,000-$78,700
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 2+ years of work experience required OR minimum 10 years of relevant work experience
-MBA, Master's in Supply Chain, or equivalent certification is a plus
-Experience in the following is preferred: Working with U.S. government contracts (FAR/DFAR regulations) and with new sources of supply and contracts in a Greenfield operation
-Proficiency with ERP systems including data creation and ERP execution as well as manufacturing-based sourcing and supply competence
-Experience within the aerospace industry is a plus, but not required
-Effective inter-personal skills to engage and create trust at all levels of the organization
-Demonstrates excellent organization skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving
-Ability to be self-driven and deliver high quality results across a global team
